Why MindReport exists

MindReport™ was built by David Benson, out of one specific, lifelong frustration.

The gap

He spent much of his life looking for something simple and almost impossible to find: to be seen clearly. Not advised, not fixed, not managed, but witnessed, without being filtered through someone else's agenda or limits. He looked for it in therapy, in friendships, in family, and kept meeting the same gap between the depth he brought and the depth that came back.

“That gap, between depth given and depth received, is what MindReport closes. Not through more effort or more care, but structurally.”

The search

The question took him a long way from home. He lived on a Native American reservation in North Dakota, spent years in Colombia (where he still lives), sat in Buddhist temples in Thailand and Japan, and took part in plant-medicine ceremonies with Indigenous communities across South America, including a seventeen-day solo retreat in the Peruvian jungle outside Iquitos. Different traditions, the same question underneath each one: how do you actually see a person?

What he carries

He also carries an inheritance. His grandparents survived the Holocaust. His grandfather, Gedalia, set down his own name when he reached America and became Daniel, an erasure David has spent his life thinking about. His grandmother, also a survivor, was a poet; her published work taught him how much it means to be witnessed through your own carefully chosen words. MindReport is built on that lesson: it reflects you back through what you actually said, not a label placed over you.

Reality Science

Benson calls his discipline Reality Science, treating inner experience as something that can be investigated with rigor, not only felt. MindReport is that idea made usable: a structured way to map what is true in you, in your own words, and hand it back so you can see it whole.

David Benson holds a DDS and completed Harvard Medical School's Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching executive education program (2026).
